You are all very supportive friends. I really wondered whether I should post my thoughts on Discipline the other day. You guys all embraced and shared your thoughts andd support as well. Thanks. I was also indirectly help someone discipline in a better way without anger being involved. When one disciplines in anger thats when its easy to lose control. One should always cool down (if necessary) before discipling.

The other thing that made me wake up

is today is the day before Mr Wonderful and I and our boys move into our new house. I dont know if Ill be anywhere near my computer tomorrow morning so Im posting this today. I am positive this move will be good for all of us. The boys love Mr Wonderful and it will be good for them to have him around all the time. There will be no more goodbyes. You all know how I feel about my new home too. Cant wait to share photos with you. If I dont post again till Monday be good be safe and be happy. I am!! Blessings to you all.

For almost 3 weeks I have scrimping and saving.  Eating soup for lunch, sometimes baked beans for dinner.  Buying 1/2 the groceys I usually buy and cutting costs where I could.  It hasnt been easy.  Ive been praying to God to please provide us with enough $$ to get us into the new house.  This morning I checked my bank and He has provided.  We’ve done it.  God and I and not only has he allowed this to happen he has in fact been a little over generous.

Thank you so much Lord.  Theres been times in my life where I really wondered whether you could provide.  Know I now like most things you expect us to help you but YOU do provide

Forms of Discipline

Proverbs 13:24

He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.

TM wanted to know whether I do spare the rod when it comes to my disciplining my toddler.

First of all let me say there have been times when my toddler has been such a rascal I have smacked him. On the leg or hand with my hand.

I dont think this makes me a bad mum. I hardly ever do it. I am NOT abusive. I usually growl at him though or not allow him to sit on my knee which he likes. This last one works quite well. I explain that I do not like what he has done that it hurts or something. I believe children (even as young as toddlers) understand far more than some people give them credit for.

Generally I think My Little Man is a good boy.

I LOVE my boys. I care deeply about them. I however do not spoil them and let them get away with things. Spoil children are usually in my opinion not nice children to be around. Sometimes life is not fair and we dont always get everything we want.

In New Zealand it is against the law to smack your child

I am NOT in favour of this law

I DO NOT believe it will help get to the abusive parents

Smacking is very different to hitting, punching, kicking and abusing your child

I see this law as a interference in the way good parents have parented their children for years and years and generations and generations

I see it as a way of breaking up families

I believe a friend of mine is right when she says that while we are not allowed to smack our children they (the government) do not support us in parenting our children

I am aware that some people may not agree with everything I do. That is their right. This is my blog, my view and my life.

I am now suppose to tag 5 people but Im not going to. Another thing I believe is how you discipline your child is up to you. Unless of course you are abusing them. I have been out with several abusive men I am not one to now stand by and let it happen. Peace be with you and yours

autobiography, nonfiction, 11th in the Christian challenge

Wow I could hardly put this book down

Its easy to read and interesting

Im going to add to my list because Amy is Christian and this book is all about her faith and her life

Week in Review

went over to a courier company to get prices for my stuff that sold on Trademe

Packed some more boxes

Had some people come and get the stuff they brought off Trademe from me

This afternoon I was jumping up and down . . . nearly and was very excited I put this on trademe and it exceeded all my expections on how much it would make. Mr Wonderful and I watched it together excitedly go under the hammer

God is very good Ive been worried and praying to God about the $$

posted some parcels

set up next door neighbor up with an account on Trademe over a cuppa of coffee

after school sat in the sun and waited for the man to come and pick up the screen door

Took My Trier to his lesson

Tried to get some petrol and the petrol pump wouldnt read my eftpos card

Went to another service station and asked if they could do the transation first which they wouldnt

picked up My Trier

tried again at the first place eventually worked

popped home to ask my wonderful next door neighbor to look after one of the trades I was doing the lady was due to pick the cups she brought

took My Trier to school

what a busy morning already and a pain about the petrol but at least I finally got it

hit a slump this avo didnt want to do anymore packing

missed the deadline for advertising for the last garage sale but decided it was ok

after getting a bit sad about the slump decided on a plan for tomorrow which helped my mood greatly

after school went grocery shopping

My Trier didnt go to school today he couldnt go to sleep until very late last night
I went and signed our rental agreement and posted another parcel

Home again

Packed up car

Left My Little Man and My Trier with my wonderful next door neighbour

took clothes including baby clothes, and a few more bits and pieces to the store

Mid avo I went over to Mr Wonderfuls

My Little Man fell asleep early tonight he didnt get a nap today and I fell asleep watching TV

I could sleep for a week

Im tired but this shall be all worth it very soon

Went and did a house inspection with my new landlady

I saw my kitchen again

My Trier fell off his chair and landed on the kitchen/dining room floor

so she gave him 3 lollies

After lunch I moved the rest of the stuff that was too big to go into the car yesterday over to my next door neighbours where they will be stored until the salvation army can come and pick it up

This was HOT work I got a headache

restful afternoon after that getting over it

In the late afternoon I hang some washing out

I woke up at 1130 knowing Id put my neck out earlier in the day when I do this I end up with a massive headache and before or while this occurs I get moody

I got up and took 2 pain killers and went back to bed

Thankfully today my neck is better

Mowed the 3/4 of the lawns

The mower gave up the ghost again

I think it needs oil shall ask Mr Wonderful if he has some tomorrow when he comes over

Mowing the lawns was actually a very yukky experience while Im doing them because I want my bond back there really isnt that much grass its mostly dirt and the dirt went everywhere and reminded me of one of first jobs when I worked in a plant nursery one would fill plant bags with soil and the soil would end up everywhere up ones nose and in ones mouth so all you could taste was dirt this was much the case today with the lawns as My Little Man would say “uck”!!!

Still at least I can leave knowing the lawns are done a far cry from when I first moved in and the grass was knee high and a fire risk

Had morning tea with my wonderful next door neighbor she is going to keep an eye on my mail when I move out

there use to be a time when one could simply go into the post office and fill out a form and the post office would take care of it

These days one has to pay for the service and I cant afford it

Did some packing this avo My Trier has taped the remaining boxes together so this helps a bit

He helped me pack this avo

and he was still rearing to go when I was hot and tired must be that ADHD

still we quite a bit done

I would have packed some more after dinner only we ran out of boxes again

Instead I had a quiet evening alone

My Little Man didnt get an afternoon sleep today so he was in bed by 5.30pm and slept right through apart from a bottle when I went to bed

My Trier slept over at the next door neighbors apparently they had a GREAT time

I will be staying in touch with my wonderful next door neighbors – they are probably the best neighbors Ive ever had

I should come up with nicknames for them in case I chat about them after I leave

From here on in they shall be known as Dee,James, Emilio, Rebeca its much nicer than saying my ex-wonderful next door neighbors isnt it???

church it was my turn to look after the preschoolers

we also had a church lunch which Id forgotten all about

Mr Wonderful came over this afternoon we packed boxes did some maintance on the house

then we spent about an hour lazying around together as a family

it was nice lying in the sun even if it was a bit hot

After dinner I had to go and post a parcel in the post box on our road although we took the pushchair My Little Man walked all the way there and back (1.5 kms). He was determined to do it. I asked him several times if he wanted to go in the pushchair but no he wanted to be a big boy and walk. There were cheers and claps when he got home.

Alive – Book Review

Alive – Piers Paul Reid My 10th read in the Christian challenge

I found this book with some stuff some people were getting rid of on the side of the road they had a sign up stuff for free

I grabbed this book and some other stuff

This book was on its last legs it literally fell apart as I read it

Im pleased I read it though

I think I saw the movie years ago

I wasnt sure I could use this in the challenge but Im sure I could its a documentary type book (non-fiction) and the faith the survicors had in God really shines though this book

This is the story of how a group of young rugby players and others survived after the plane they were traveling on crashed in the Andes in 1972. They were stranded for 10 weeks in the middle of ice and snow. It tells how they depended on each other and put their faith in God under terrible conditions and lived to tell the tale. It tells of how many of their parents mounted searches and didnt give up. It tells how 2 men hiked for 10 days over rough terrian to get help for the others. It tells how they survived and although some felt guilty knew the only way to do this was to eat the dead.

This is a story that will long remain with me. Although the book is now being recycled in the recycling station. I was most touched by the fact that each night these boys would pray together. They are an example to us all. They could have given up hope on God in such conditions but they didnt. In fact I think it brought them closer to God. I feel blessed to have read this amazing story.

This was my 9th book in this challenge.

BOOK REVIEW

This is the first book of the Sommerfield trilogy. The main character in this book is a widow who returns to the Mennonite community. She grew up here and when her great aunt leaves everything to her she has to go back and live there with her daughter for 3 months to claim the inheritance. Her teenage daughter is far from happy about this arrangement. Its hard for the main character to return as she had left many years ago because shed fallen in love with a trucker who wasnt part of the community.

I found there were similarities between then main character and my background. She leaves the community because of love. I left Auckland for the same reason. The community feel abandoned by her. I think my estranged family feel the same way. Her family dont reach out to her and she feels this is inhospitable. I too feel ill treated as my family never gave Mr Wonderful a chance to prove how wonderful he is.

In the story everyone has to reconsider their feelings and end up in resolution.

I was a bit disappointed in this book as I thought it would focus more on the Amish way of life.
