I have decided to join the 2008 TBR Challenge. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and then saw that another bloggie friends was going to do it.
Here’s what you do:

  • Pick 12 books – one for each month of 2008 – that you’ve been wanting to read (that have been on your “To Be Read” list) for 6 months or longer, but haven’t gotten around to.
  • OPTIONAL: Create a list of “Alternates” (books you could substitute for your challenge books, given that a particular one doesn’t grab you at the time)
  • Then, starting January 1, 2008, read one of these books from your list each month, ending December 31, 2008.

I have actually been astounded at how many books I have read this year.

So without further a do heres my list

January – A Slice of Heave: A Family On The Move Martin Thomas

Feburary – The Power of One Bryce Courtenay

March – The Summer Garden – Paullina Simons

April – A book by Karen Kingsbury (I have heard a lot about this writer – If I can get hold of Like Dandelion Dust then I’ll read that if not then to get a taste for this writer Ill read the Kingsbury Collection -Three Novels in One

May – Lineage of Grace Francine Rivers

June – Letters to Malcolm CS Lewis (couldnt get into it so Ive swapped it for this) God Loves Messy People – Bonnie Keen

July – The Screwtape Letters with Screwtape proposes a Toast CS Lewis

August – The Bridge To Holy Cross – Paullina Simons March –

September – Memoirs of a Geisha Arthur Golden

October – Wild Swans Jung Chang (couldnt get into it so Ive swapped it for this)

November – The Red Tent Anita Diamant

December – Tomorrow When the War Began John Marsden

And now that Ive written my list I really cant wait!!!

  2. Jen, it would take me forever to count how many books that I have read this past year. I check out at 6 or 8 books every three weeks. Reading is my greatest joy.

    I wish the happiest Christmas!

  3. I read a lot but my reading selections are so uncertain that I could never make a list so far in advance. Good luck with this challenge!

I’m feeling better after my battle with the tummy bug. Hope to catch up on what I’ve missed in Bloggityville now, LOL! 😉

Have a happy and joyous Christmas season, Jen.

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  7. Glad to know you’re participating, Jen! I have Memoirs of a Geisha too but it’s not included in the challenge simply because of it’s older-than-6-months criteria not fulfilled…

    Happy reading!
