What’s In A Name?” Reading Challenge

Another challenge that sounded too interesting to pass up. Found this over at another book lovers blog. I saw this the other day but didnt know if I could cope with yet another challenge but its calling my attention and so Im going to give it a go I do have a whole year. This challenge is being hosted by Annie it began on January 1, 2008 and runs through to December 31, 2008. The Challenge: Choose one book from each of the following categories:1. A book with a color in its title. Examples might include: The Amber Spyglass, The Red Pony, Blue Blood2. A book with an animal in its title. Examples might include: The Hound of the Baskervilles, To Kill a Mockingbird, Julie of the Wolves3. A book with a first name in its title. Examples might include: Jane Eyre, the Harry Potter books, Anne of Green Gables4. A book with a place in its title. Examples might include: From Russia with Love, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Out of Africa5. A book with a weather event in its title. Examples might include: The Snows of Kilimanjaro, Red Storm Rising, Tornado Alley6. A book with a plant in its title. Examples might include: Where the Red Fern Grows, The Name of the Rose, Flowers for Algernon–You may overlap books with other challenges, but please don’t use the same book for more than one category. (For example, you can use The Red Pony for either a “color” book or an “animal” book, but not for both.)

So having been very tempted here are my selections are:

The Red Tent Anita Diamant

The beauty of the beasts: tales of Hollywood’s wild animals Ralph Helfer

Letters to Malcolm CS Lewis (couldnt get into it so Ive swapped it for this) God Loves Messy People – Bonnie Keen

A Slice of Heaven: A Family On The Move Martin Thomas

Stormy Weather Paulette Jiles

The Rose Of Sebastopol Katharine McMahon (couldnt get into it so Ive swapped it for this) The Sunflower Diary Lillian Boraks-Nemetz

  4. An interesting challenge. I would love to give it a go but nowadays, it’s just kind of hard to read with my toddler around. I used to be able to finish a novel in 2 or 3 days but no longer. 😦
ANyway, thanks for sharing your story about having kids at my blog. Much appreciated.

  14. What a fun idea! I’m not nearly so creative…though I did just finish reading a book with a name in the title: Chill Out, Josey! by Susan May Warren, a VERY good chick/mom lit book, and Christian to boot. I recommend it, and will review it on Monday at my blog if anyone wants to know more.

This book meme needs another title added, “A book with a month’s name”…and for that I’d recommend “Leaving November” by Deborah Raney…but it’s not out yet!

Good luck with your list, Jen, and let us know how you like them! I’ve always heard The Red Tent is one worth reading…
