My 3 boys and I

Our trip to the hospital and Mark

Filed under: Home and Family, week in review — by my3boysandi @ 8:48 am

Yesterday afternoon Mr Wonderful was not feeling well. He headed for bed early but said he was in too much pain to sleep even after a pandol. He asked me to take him to the doctors. So we went. Our Little man had a wonderful play in the waiting room. From their we went to the hospital via a pit stop at home to pick some stuff ie pjs insulin etc. Mr Wonderful has an infection that is spreading from his ear to his jaw. His glucose levels were also high. After a couple of hours there I took the boys home to bed. We thought Mr Wonderful would end up spending the night.

At 1 am i got a phone call from Mr Wonderful asking that pick him up. The boys and I had been fast asleep. There had been a service from the the hospital in the past where they could send you home in a taxi that they would pay for but this has been discontinued as some egg (idiot) had abused the system.

So I woke My Home Schooler up and I carried a sleeping toddler out to the car. He never woke up once. He will get a surprise this morning. We went to pick up daddy. Let me tell you something if you ever have to go in out in the middle of the night after sleeping make sure you have something to eat or drink. The beginning of the journey was interesting. I hadnt broken the fast and thus had not woken up properly. I could feel myself being a bit droopy and one of the signs ever made my eyes go funny. I took it very easy and eventually woke up enough to be somewhat confident.

I had a flashback to a man I went out for a little while before Mr Wonderful he had lost his wife in a car accident. They had been on holiday and either setting out or making their way home. They would take it in shifts to drive thought out the night. Mark had been driving for a while and was feeling sleepy so his wife and he swapped places she had had a sleep. She hadnt been awake long. Within minutes of taking over they had an accident. She died. He told me that she must fallen back to sleep. I can identify with how easy that would be to do now. After I went to bed last night after picking Mr Wonderful up I prayed for Mark and his children. So sad. I pray that they are ok. I pray that he has found someone nice or that he is at peace being on his own now. He in my opinion started dating too soon after his wifes death. He was very depressed. My thoughts and prayers go out to him wherever he is.

  6. Hi, Jen. Praying that M. feels better soon.

You’re right, it is very easy to fall asleep at the wheel. It happens all the time, unfortunately. Glad you were all safe.

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  8. I hope Mr. Wonderful is feeling much better now. That is very sad about your friend, Mark. I get sleepy if I drive for a long time. Then I stop, get out of the car and walk around for a few minutes. It helps me to wake right up.
