yes I know the video stopped short dont know why but I have put the end up at the end of the post

Canteen Noodle where we got dinner on Saturday night from highly recommended

On sunday we went to see a parade of motorbikes or “bookers bookers” as Our Little Man calls them.  They drove from Hastings to Napier and through some small towns of the Hawkes Bay on the way.  They are delievering thousands of $$ and thousands of toys to Birthright in Napier.

This afternoon I made jam for the first time ever.  mr Wonderful bless him keeps bringing bags of lemons home and I knew  I had to do somthing with them.  I found this easy jam recipe and decided to have a go

its nice but runny – any ideas about how to thicken it easily for next time

Happy Birthday Misty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. I got my own birthday song! YAY!! Thanks Jen. I am still on holiday at Disney World. I only get wifi at the Clubhouse, so I came out to sit by the pool while the children swim. THANK YOU for my birthday song. And happy birthday to your little one as well.

    thanks and your very welcome

  2. hey chick, you have a big three year old now!
    that is fabulous.
    hippie happy birthday little man!

about the lemons – i am thinking you might need to cook the jam for longer. and when ya think it’s ready, test the jam on a plate – put a wee spoonful on a plate and let it cool a seccy, then sweep your fingertip through it, if the jam stays separate it’s ready and will set. you can put what you’ve already made back in a pot and just heat gently to boiling and keep cooking until it’s setting consistency –

but i am sure that google could help ya lol.
am intersted that there is no “lemon peel” grated into the jam… cos it would really add to the lemony flavour?
    mwah X

thanks yep hes growing so fast

and thanks for the help again my dear

  3. *interested.

and have just re-read the recipe and realised that the peel was omitted THIS time. a good trick for getting thin peel without any white pith (which makes the end product bitter) is to use a potato peeler and then blitz the peel with your sugar in the food processor for a few seconds. THEN add it to the pot…

Hope you manage to get some rest after getting up so early the last several mornings.

Have a great week, Jen. 🙂

  6. Maybe you have allergies or something…My hubby and I tend to be congested in the mornings, too. Usually much better after a shower. 🙂

Darling cake for your MIL and sounds like a busy, but very good week. Very nice pictures, too!

    a shower doesnt help much

  7. Jen, you could make lemon honey, it’s easy peasy. You use eggs, sugar and butter to thicken it.

Oh your famour lemon honey I never thought of that – thanks

  10. Al o fthe food looks lovely! I’ve never made jam, so I can’t speak to that problem.

Perhaps you have allergies since you are mostly sniffling first thing in the morning.

    The motorbike parade looks fun!
